When both ends of the tube are in place, you are free to unplug the small end with your thumb and let it flow onto the bucket. Slowly turn the large end of the siphon upside down in the water while positioning the small end over the first bucket. Little to no air bubbles should be present At this point, the entire tubing should be filled with water. While still pointing up, dip the large end of your siphon into the aquarium. If you are holding the large end upwards, almost the entire siphon system should be filled with tap water Turn the sink off while continuing to plug the small end. Once the water is flowing through constantly for about five seconds, plug the small end of the siphon with your thumb. Go to your sink and run tap water through the large end of the siphon, letting it drain through the small end into the sink. Hold your siphon with the large end in your right hand pointing upwards, and the small end in your left hand, pointing down (if you are right handed, that is).
